Art Therapy

Art therapy originated in the mid-twentieth century, when doctors identified art as the primary outlet for patients with mental disorders. Since then, art therapy has been used frequently in the therapeutic field, specifically in addiction programs, with high rates of success.

Art therapy is the creative process of making art to aid in the development of emotional, physical, and behavioral techniques to cope with a variety of stressors including: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, family relationships, and mental health problems.

Our art therapist comes to the New Method Wellness center once a week for an art therapy session with our clients, where she takes them through a variety of art methods to enhance creativity, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and more.
