A holistic drug rehab definitely has a different approach to rehab than other rehabs. They don’t just address the drugs and the alcohol. They address the entire problem. Diet and exercise and how you feel and take care of your body is believed to be all part of the recovery process, not just putting you through a detox program and sticking you in therapy. If you are depressed, suffer from anxiety and panic attacks or have really big highs and really big lows you may have a mental illness problem. The reason you may be drinking or doing drugs is to self-medicate for those problems. You might not know it until the drugs and alcohol are removed from your system and you can no longer use these drugs and alcohol as a coping mechanism. If you’ve gone to rehab before and you keep relapsing it’s a good idea to rule out mental illness. That way if you do have it you can get the treatment you need and get better for good.

Drug alcohol treatment programs have more faith sometimes in a person’s recovery than family and friends do. They have had some really tough cases over the years and they’ve been able to crack even some of the hardest to crack addicts. It’s kind of like debt. You think that your debt is worse than anyone else’s debt until you realize that there are people out there with much worse debt than you and that your debt isn’t actually all that bad.

It’s not until a family steps into a rehab and looks the faces of addiction in the eye that they realize they really don’t know that much about it. They only know as it relates to them. Once they see addiction in its rawest form they realize that they only know a small part of addiction. Also, a lot of times it’s takes a counselor and or a staff to explain to them all the forms of addiction and how each person is different and that a family doesn’t fail because a rehab succeeds. A family succeeds because they got the addict to enter rehab and admit they have a problem.

Everyone has expectations when it comes to getting their loved one treatment for alcoholism. It’s always painful to see families struggling with addiction and how that addiction has broken a marriage, a friendship, a family relationship and the children. Some spouses want their significant other to get the help that they need so that when they come out the other side they are able to take care of themselves because the spouse has hit his or her breaking point and is walking away. They don’t want to leave though without knowing that the alcoholic is in recovery and able to take care of themselves.

Is Addiction Rehabilitation Always The Answer?

Addiction rehabilitation is a great way to know that you are getting the help you need from the people that understand and work with addiction at all levels. While you may think that you can do your own kind of rehab at home, most people need something whether it’s an AA meeting or an outpatient rehab center. Also there is a bigger tendency to not fully admit your alcoholism or drug abuse problem and take ownership of that problem if you don’t acknowledge that you have a problem in a setting like rehab or AA.

Drug Addiction Treatment Center: The Second Time Around

The second time around a drug addict may approach a drug addiction treatment center one or two ways: I failed or I didn’t take it seriously the first time at bat. If the addict feels like they failed it’s not the best way to go into rehab and it’s something the addict should definitely discuss with their friends and their family and the rehab that way the feeling of failure can be addressed. It’s not something the addict will be able to run from in rehab and they will most likely approach this second time at bat like I’m a failure and rehab doesn’t work for me. Why give it my all this time around if that didn’t work last time around? This kind of negative thinking can hurt the recovery process more than the addict realizes.

There are also underlying reason why a person drinks that people that drink aren’t away of and it’s not until they really go through the process of rehab and therapy that they full come to understand why they drink. So when it comes to finding financing, a lot of rehabs offer scholarships or payment plans. The best thing you can do is get on the phone and talk to people about their financing options and see what you come up with. Try not to get discouraged by rehabs that aren’t able to work for you. It’s hard getting on the phone and telling your story to a stranger but keep in mind that it’s for your health and if you had you wouldn’t even think twice about calling every person in town to get some answers.

If you want a holistic drug rehab no one is going to blame you. A lot of addicts really respond to a holistic approach to rehab verses a non holistic approach. Drug Alcohol Treatment: Is It Possible To Fix Both At Once?

It is possible to get drug alcohol treatment at the same time. If an addict only comes in for alcohol treatment and not drug treatment there can be problems. The first problem usually is during detox. If an addict goes through detox and doesn’t own up to drug abuse they are going to have withdrawal symptoms that do not match those of an alcoholic. Their symptoms may be more intense and sometimes a medical detox will be necessary but they are already having the DTs. A smoother transition would have been possible if they owed up to everything at once.

Addiction is difficult and sometimes people that live with the addict or are friends with the addict feel that they understand the disease but then once a treatment center sits down and talks to them it’s clear they don’t. They make excuses for the addict and really what they are doing is trying to justify why they are letting the addict behave and treat them like they do.

A rehab doesn’t just solve alcohol and drug problems they also work with eating disorders a lot of the time and gambling addictions and sex addictions. Some rehabs offer thirty, sixty and ninety day stays depending on what the addict feels they need or on what a judge may have ordered.

Making that first call after alcohol detox can be hard for the person on the receiving line of that call. Hearing your friend or loved one break down on the phone can be heart breaking for the person who loves the addict. If it’s your child, your baby you can’t get into your car and pick them up. They’ve just started the hard work part of the rehab process. Rehab is hard. It’s the first time an addict has not had drugs or alcohol to rely on to cope. So everything is real, and raw and emotions are running high.
