I think my loved one is using
Our recommendation is to follow this simple three step process to help find an appropriate answer.
- STEP 1 – Assess your loved one’s behavior. Use this step to rationally address the reasons for your suspicion, without resorting to bringing up old conflicts that may have little to do with the issue. Create a list of specific behaviors that are of concern.
- STEP 2 – Assess the affect on others. Drug and alcohol abuse almost always has detrimental effect on one’s family and friends. Use this step to create another list describing the effects observed in the people surrounding the person in question.
- STEP 3 – Break open the barriers of silence. Most individuals who have a problem with alcohol or drugs will deny that they have a problem – People who don’t have a problem with drinking or drug use usually don’t get upset if you talk with them about their use.
